Young Leaders Society

What is YLS?

Community oriented individuals or couples in
their 20's, and 30's contributing a combined annual gift of $1,200 or
more to United Way may become members of the Young Leaders Society.

Why join?

The Young Leaders Society was formed to provide community involvement and personal development opportunities to its young members. This unique and dynamic group offers its members multiple avenues to become involved in the community, to directly make a difference in people’s lives and to ultimately become leaders in Greater Kansas City.

Benefits

Members enjoy many exclusive opportunities throughout the year. Activities include:

    - fulfilling volunteer projects at United Way programs
  • - rewarding mentoring with Kansas City's prominent philanthropists
    - networking opportunities with like-minded civic and business leaders
    - other fun special events

Members do not have any expected requirements. This program was designed to offer something different for all its members, regardless of level of involvement or area of interest. These are busy times; therefore members should choose what activities are important to them. Some sign up for multiple service projects, some network at YLS business functions, while others simply want to be recognized as a Young Leader.

Membership Step-Up Program

To provide a broader group of donors with the opportunity to participate, a "step-up" program has been established. Those currently not giving $1,200 may enter the YLS by giving $600 their first year of membership with a commitment to step-up to $1,200 by the third year of their membership. The suggested step-up schedule is $600 the first year, $900 in year two, and $1,200 by year three.
