United Way is advancing community impact in everything we do to ensure that children, youth and families achieve their full potiental. We are focusing our work around the following outcomes:
Children and youth are prepared for school, achieve academic success and are ready for a productive future. Parents and caring adults have the knowledge and skills to support positive, age-appropriate development of children and youth. People of all ages have the knowledge and skills to prevent family violence and abuse in all forms.
We create change in this impact area in these ways:
- Quality Matters
In January 2010 United Way launched "Quality Matters," an initiative to champion and advance quality out-of-school time opportunities. Participation in quality out-of-school time programs is linked to better school attendance and performace, less disciplinary action and higher educational aspirations. Read more...
