Funding Opportunities

United Way of Greater Kansas City provides financial support to area health and human service programs. There are two ways in which an organization may receive funding. One is a grant application process for which we will be accepting requests in Fall 2019. Below you will find more information about this process as well as a registration form so that your organization will be notified when the next Request for Proposals is released. The second type of funding is through donor directed giving during our annual workplace campaign. You will find a link below that provides you with more details about this opportunity.

Donor Directed Giving

Area non-profit organizations are eligible to receive donor-directed contributions through the annual United Way of Greater Kansas City fundraising campaign. Click the link below for more information.

United Way of Greater Kansas City invests in local programs that address health and human services challenges facing the Kansas City metropolitan community. The Community Impact Agenda will provide you with information about UWGKC funding priorities within the health and human service system. The specific investment areas and eligibility criteria for the next funding cycle (May 2020 through April 2023) are not yet finalized. We expect to release that information in September 2019.

2020 – 2022 Request for Proposals

United Way of Greater Kansas City is not currently accepting applications for funding. Our grant funding is on a three-year cycle with our next process beginning in September of 2019 when we will release a Request for Proposals (RFP) and hold informational workshops. Successful applicants will be eligible to receive funding for the three-year period of May 2020 through April 2023.

If your organization currently receives grant funding from United Way, they will be notified when the RFP is released. If your organization is not currently affiliated with United Way, please complete the form below to receive announcements about the funding application process.

Application Process

Links to the RFP, Funding Application Forms and Shared Outcomes Manual from our most recent funding cycle are below. You may want to focus first on the United Way Agency Standards as they establish a minimum expectation for management and governance of applicant agencies. As you review all of the documents, keep in mind that in the 2020 -2022 grant cycle there are likely to be changes to these documents including those categories for which we are accepting new program applications. Therefore, this information should be considered general guidelines and subject to change for the upcoming cycle.
